Default Does keeping the car unlocked....

Reduce battery drain?

I am having issues keeping the battery alive and I canīt use the maintainer for more than 12 hours at a time because I share the parking with 200 other appartament owners and some of them could object seeing that I keep the battery maintainer connected every day (the A/C plug is a few meters away from my space)
I was thinking on leaving the car unlocked as the parking has permanent surveillance by cameras and security personnel

I wouldn't expect leaving the car unlocked would make much difference in the static current draw. If you want to run a test, you could use an ammeter to measure the difference. If you need to park the car for extended times without a battery maintainer, why not disconnect the battery either mechanically or with a disconnect switch?

A guy I was renting a room to said that his girlfriend wanted to do it in my porsche but the doors were locked .
Find and fix the problem or get a bigger better battery ?

This is a random thought,,but I have never thought of this until now...
If you popped the hood/boot, got out of the car, locked the doors, then disconnected the battery, then fully closed the hood, you couldn't get back into the car. Not without pulling the left wheel well liner to get at the cable.
So, if you want your car locked, with the battery disconnected, your kind of SOL.
Would one of those low current bypass disconnects (the ones that keep your clock and radio settings) flow enough juice to unlock the doors?

Thats not true . I have locked my car with the battery out of the car and have been able to get back into the car with the key .

Yep, me too. The drivers lock does not work with the battery disconnected or flat, but the passengers door lock works fine with the key.

My drivers side , the left side , works with just the key .
It takes a bit more effort without the battery , but it does work .
Do you have one of those cars with the steering wheel installed on the wrong side ?

Nope, the same as you and the car was initially delivered in Germany. I wonder if the US cars were different from the Euro cars on this? Anyone else's like this?

Thanks to everyone for trying to help!!

I'm going to take the 964 to my mechanic to have a complete electrical inspection and then decide if a get a battery cut out switch like my friend with the RSA has ( he doesnīt drive the 1993 RSA at all except when going to the Porsche Cup meetings) his car is a very low mileage RSA (18000 miles) and he wants to keep the miles down for resale value.

For the record my car starts perfectly if I drive it twice a week but not so if it seats for a week or a little more.

The battery is less than a year old (Bosch silver)

Not all batteries come out of the factory with the same capacity .
Some batteries come out with low capacity .

This book by Calder has a very good section on batteries and alternators .

Mines an 89 . The 89s were so perfect that the later cars could only be less than perfect .

What you need is a battery pack with 110v plug.. (leave it on the passenger floor) That will keep the maintainer fed for about a week... then you take the batter pack and recharge it and you're good for another week.
I did that for weeks and worked perfectly! (later I discovered a plug next to the car)

Or you could buy a deep cycle battery and an inverter to hook the trickle charger up to . When the voltage of the deep cycle gets down you could haul it up and recharge it .
