Default 964 design - clay sculpturing at the factory

Looking through my Porsche book library the other day, I reacquainted myself with a book that deals exclusively with 964s. I purchased this book many, many years before I ever had a Porsche...

It was probably one of those "sale" books at Boarders for $5. Little did I know that years later I would cherish it as much as I do.

Porsche Carrera by Heike K. Foltys, 1990

Checkout the design sketches in the background... 993 ideas!

Lots of vents in the front bumper (really glad they didn't do that)... same number of vents as the longhood horn grill! Tradition!

These pictures also appear in: "Carrera 4 Porsche Allrad 1900-1990" published by Christophorus, editor Reinhard Seiffert. Very nice book in German and English

Glad you guys enjoyed those.

It's really neat seeing how our cars came to life; the design and testing.
The book is about 65 pages, filled mostly with factory brochure type shots.

Here are a couple test shots (ABS, C4, etc.). Plus I found the shot of the inside of the cat. interesting and the Porsche auto show picture really puts it all into context.

Design 90 wheels... for everyone!

Heh! ...and a 'McCloud' lambskin jacket wandering through the display.
(- Loving this thread!)

Are those vented bumpers from the 959; which was a bit of a base idea for the 964?

Lonnie,
I LOVE your humor... I wish you lived closer and we could go out for beers every once in a while.
You make me laugh every time!

So that is the woman that designed the rear spoiler lip. Sehr gut Frau.
