Own a piece of history: RSA #1
If you been on RL long enough the topic of RS vs. RSA vs. C2 has come up enough times...
So with a big smile on my face... let's have fun discussing this:
1993 Porsche RS America, #001 - Production date 2/12/1992. #WP0AB2968PS418001 Information and Specifications The information below is pertaining to the 1993 RS America, which was the first ever built (#001) and a fresh 3.8 with 2 hours and has near 300hp rear wheel horsepower. Dyno sheets are available. It has competed in the Brian Redman/Watkins Glen Double-Fifty, finished first in Sprint Race, and second in the Eduro (C-Class, James McCarthy). This car completely annihilated the whole vicious Motec/Zytec/EFI equipped GT-2 field at the 1999 Lime Rock Club Race with David Murry at the helm (B-Class, which is unprecedented for a stock, narrow body car with full interior, weighing in at 2750 pounds, competed against tube-frame, wide body, unlimited engine modification, “anything goes” Porsches).
This is a very special car of historical significance, driven by James McCarthy and David Murry exclusively; the first RS America ever produced, and is in excellent condition!
Buy it now price: $225,000!
Currently on ebay:

If you want a race car you can get a 964 Cup for less than 1/3 of his BIN price. If you want a piece of history, this car is modified well beyond what a collector would find reasonable. Just my ¢2.

Wonder how much of a cheater car it was when raced 10+ years ago. (Too bad the club racing results only go back to '06 now.) I'm sure most of the modifications happened since then, however.

And FWIW, I'm not buying RSA # 001 until I can confirm wrinkled paint, seam welded tub and rolled fenders....

The person at Porsche who came up with the idea of the RS America should be given an award. The plan has succeeded beyond anyone's expectations...it's become almost a religion.

And how about the 79.5K car for sale on rsamerica.net?

I almost fell over when that came up in my daily alert the other day. Just a silly price, especially when you can get an as-new original US Cup for about $100k.

That car would have trouble fetching $80K. Maybe on a good day $50K? I've seen it at the track before, took pics, didn't realize I was in the presence of greatness.
