Just look at it as if I had grabbed a beer and move to the corner to talk to tbennett017.
Yup- it's that day again. I skipped my duties for this past week so you guys should have some good updates.
What ya got planned, or what have you done lately to the Porsche? We have our annual Porsche winter event; this year it's Turbo Spaghetti. They alternate between Chili and spaghetti. Not to brag, but I've won a prize the last 3 yrs running for either Chili or Spaghetti. Hoping to make it 4 yrs in a row.
We're supposed to get snow, so the Porsche will remain in the garage.
i'm doing chile tonight
2lbs lean ground pork
1/2lb chorizo
2 cans dark red kidney beans
1 1/2 C onions
5 garlic cloves
1 sweet green pepper
6-10 jalpenos (depending on heat you like - fresh thin sliced with seeds)
2 Tbs mexican chile powder
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 can tomato sauce
1 beer (heavier & darker the better (no american or mexican beer!!)
water as needed
so Hawk if you win the chile contest.........share your recipe??
Damn! You guys are making me hungry. I drove about 80miles round trip to the nearest mecca to exchange a leather jacket at Jos. A. Bank in the POURING rain. The best thing about the trip was Rush and the Porsche.
Raspberry- this year is Spaghetti. I do have last years award winning Red chili though. Similar to yours, too...
2 sticks Hot Cherizo
1 lb. Italian sausage- pizza sausage works too
3 16oz cans tomato sauce
1 16oz can kidney beans
1 medium yellow onion
1 cup fresh celery- sliced
2 fresh Jalapeno peppers, sliced with seeds
3 cloves fresh garlic diced
1 tbs Chili powder
1/2 tsp Ground Chipotle powder
1/2 tsp Ground White pepper
1/4 tsp Salt
Prep:
Brown Italian sausage, celery, onion, and garlic in medium frying pan; drain grease. In separate pan, cook Cherizo until meat is warm and separates into small chunks.
Combine all remaining ingredient into large stock pot; add Italian sausage and Cherizo.
Simmer until ready to serve.
If the spices are a bit too much, serve with cheese.
Hawk, thanks, really like your idea of sausage (Italian/Mex) instead of ground pork_ and going to try that next time. Looked for chipotle pepper powder in local markets - does not exist here. We like our chile, curries, etc on real hot side so will use your recipe and add few more jalapenos, habaneros or thai chiles.
sorry just have to add.....remarkable day here.....wife/I spent all morning., motoring around the city with cab as it should be (top down).
this weekend I am boxing up my rear bumper as i have sold it, ebaying some parts off the 964, getting the VW Golf Mk3 cleaned ready for sale, and washing the sprinter van, as well as designing the livery for it.
chuck in a few sausage and egg sandwiches, and that pretty much my weekend.
Work is in a disarray at the shop, builders are in making a new office and customer suite, sawdust everywhere!
Sitting on the beach in Jamaica till Tuesday, while the home folks are digging out from 2 feet of snow!
So I'll put on my bob marley tape
And practice what I preach
Get jah lost in the reggae mon
As I walk along the beach
Stay in touch with my insanity really is the only way
Its a jungle out there kiddies
Have a very fruitful day
