Can you rate in your order of priority, the following choices:

1. Michelin PS2 N3
2. Conti CSC3
3. Yokohama Advan Neova AD08
4. Bridgestone Potenza RE050A
5. Pirelli PZero Rosso

I've put them in my order of preference, tho the PS2s are far more expensive than the rest. These all come in 205/50/17 and 255/40/17.

Also, do you really need a Y speed rating, or is W good enough. The Yokohamas and Contis only come in W.

I just put on some kumho's last week and saved a bundle...so far they seem to have lots of grip, are very quiet (more than the Yokohama's I just took off anyway) and time will tell how well wearing they are..

Tried the Kumho's for a day, then swap them out for Michelin's, have had Sumitomo HTRZ III on a lot of other cars (STI, EVO, M3, M5, RS4 & RS6) never on my 964 but also great tire for the money! But I have a had several sets of Michelin PS2 N3 on my 964 and love them, great ware, no issues (for me), so those are the my top choice, but can be pricey..

having been in singapore many times - can i assume you are likely doing only street driving - and handling at speed is not an issue(or?).

best value or handling may not be a michelin or conti or the like......can suggest if available you consider a performance tire that does not advertise ......

I just bought the Conti DW's for my 964 C4 - had them mounted yesterday. Tire Rack had a reasonable price.

Yes, the drive is predominantly on the street, but a track is coming up in 2011, and may do some track days (not racing).

It rains half the time in Singapore, so wet grip is important. I find the grip on the Pilot Sports really lousy, and the CSC3s on my Audi A6 are pretty good.

So no one buys into the N spec theory from Michelin then, given most of the tyres you guys recommend are not N spec (apart from the PS2s.)

P.S. are those 18" Porsche OEM rims you have on? Do they fit on narrow bodies nicely w/o spacers? Any idea what the weight is per rim?

The survey results for wet grip are still listed as excellent (7.9). This isn't a great comparison, but I'm very happy with their wet performance on my WRX.

You found the wet grip with PS2s N specification to be bad? Wow, I run circles around everyone when I use my PS2s as my wet track tires (and leave cups or RA1s home). Whenever I'm at Watkins Glen I'm simply amazed that my top speed is around 125 in the pouring rain (vs. 145 in the dry).

Yes they are. I run 15mm in the rear because they would rub the oil line on hard compression of the suspension. No issues now. Not sure of the weight but they are supposed to be one of the lightest.

I think I'm in the minority that likes the contis. We can still get Conti sport contact 2 N2 over here and I think they're great for street driving. Very progressive feel and gradual break away when the grip is low. I've got Michelin PS N3 on the boxster. I think they have almost too much grip, then let go suddenly. Seem to be wearing very fast too.
