Default 964 OBD 1 convert to OBD 2

Due to test requlation, my 964 needs to convert from OBD 1 to OBD 2...Dose anyone think it will have problem that signal can not read out from the computer? Is 964 designed to be analog signal? Any other solution could convert it through software?

US 993 from '96 up were OBD2, I suppose you could t/p the entire harness and DME, not sure how you'd take care of the 4 O sensors

where would this be required?
typically the test criteria is by the year of manufacture.

As bill said you would have to repalce the entire motor - harness (s) exhaust system, etc. and depending on model there could be a 100 other things to modify or replace along the way (if you have a C4 or a Tiptronic for instance it would be more complicated.

This should do it:

http://www.sensolutions.com/products...adapter-cable/

They have an office in Canada and somewhere in Asia.

Electrically the 964 onboard diagnostics is the same as OBD2 (ISO 9141-2:1994) but the protocol used to communicate between the ECU and the tester is not OBD2. So simply replacing the cable/connector won't work. Unfortunately there is no easy or inexpensive way to do this.

I find it strange that they would even ask you to do this. Why would they need to plug into the cars fault diagnostics for a road worthy test? What would they do for even earlier cars with no plug at all?

Sounds like the shop needs to invest in a OBD1 tester.

Dear all:

I found out that Durametric kit got this cable inside which I will borrow it from my friend. Taiwan's test requirement is the most demanding in the world and they do not want to see older car pass to get the plate...
