Default New bushings won't fit!!!! Need advice.

Bought the bushing kits from Pelican. Installed them and found that they are 66mm, 5mm too large to be installed. Now what?

definately pressed in all the way?

did you have to remove the steel outer from the original bush?

Yes, you can see that they are completely in. I did have to send them to a machine shop to get the old ones out as they were badly corroded.

Don't know, I just supplied the kits and they came back installed. It didn't seem like there was anything I could remove from them to shorten the distance.

I wonder if I could just grind them until they fit?

Should have just gone with the urethane bushings...F.

This may sound stupid, but could you put it in a vice and see if it would squeeze down anymore? I didn't use their bushings, I did Walrod's, and didn't have any issue like that.

Get the urethane ones from CW and put the cost of these ones down to experience.
Chris' are sweet and a nice upgrade from rubber. Very tight feeling.

CW's bushings are on the way, will save the KY for other projects. I'm taking my lumps on this one

I forget- did you ask me about this when you were first contemplating this or was that the motor mounts? Anyway I've told you that you could learn a lot from my mistakes. CW's urethane bushings were happily not one of them. One of the better than "as advertised" things I did right. You'll love 'em.

For the rest- if your car hasn't had the CA bushings replaced at least once in its lifetime, make the change and you'll immediately feel the difference. IMHO his mod should precede things like chipping, exhaust bypasses etc.

CW bushes here 2, nice work easy to fit, and don't give too much.

CW's bushings arrived today (had them sent to my mechanic overnight because I wanted the car for the weekend). Supposed porsche expert who's had the car for 2 weeks takes a look at the bushings and instructions, calls me at the office (did I mention that the only reason I sent the car out was to save time because I'm really busy at work) and says they might work but he still thinks they wont....great. So after a day at work I drive to the F'ing shop and pick up the arms and everything. If the car was rolling I would have had it flat bedded home! Anyway, got started in the basement at 9 and now it's 12:11 and I'm DONE! New bushings installed and ready to go.

I'll be starting another thread soon on these proclaimed Porsche specialists that are no better than the reasonably handy DIY'er

Quick Reply: New bushings won't fit!!!! Need advice.
