Default CD bracket

Hi everyone,
Does any off you have the CD charger in the car…if so..i really need a picture off the mounting bracket with some measurements. I will manufacture one in our workshop, but since I have never had anyone in my Porsches…I don’t know how it’s “screwed” to the left side wall….

Wouldn't it be easier to buy the bracket from Porsche? PN. 964 645 221 00 . I know, Porsche aren't cheap, but I bought one and don't remember it being that pricey.

I haven't mounted mine yet, but I do have threaded holes in the inner wing to mount it. Looks like the changer was added by the dealer, rather than at the factory, as one of the holes goes through my paint code sticker. I can provide a picture, but the 964 is still in the trim shop so I won't have access to it for a while.

cd's are inconvenient, and old technology - no? would it not be easier to simply route a docking station for either a USB chip, or an I-pod, or MP3 player from the back of your headset into the glovebox (an 8gb I pod or chip will hold about 2000 songs and no need for storage)

I have a CD changer in my cabrio. It a 10 CD unit mounted to a fabric covered piece of wood (3/4" x 6") and its wedged into the center of the spare tire. The fabric prevents damage to the spare. The entire unit fits nicely in this space. Can't take credit for the idea, my stereo installer did it about 10 years ago. Its worked well.

Sorry I can't take a picture, my camera is broken.

Okay….nice hint from our all…My Ipod touch Could easily go in to the glove box, very good idea! I have a docking station in my daily drive, and can control it on the steering wheel. The CD charger just sits on the shelf since my first Porsche days…looking sad as the original part it is…and wants to have its glorious ride at 260 km/h playing some old ZZ top Cd:s…. If I only could see how the Bracket docks to the chassis, I could easy make one at the company….also have it powder painted!

The bracket is a simple cradle that bolts to the inner wing, as I said above. There is nothing fancy about how it is mounted; two holes ( IIRC without having the car to hand ) drilled and tapped ( M6?). The bracket mounts directly to those and forms a cradle for the changer to sit in. The changer itself has threaded holes in the metal side casing that are used to mount to the cradle.
Pics of the cradle; I would still say just buy one, along with the bolts etc. .

That is how my CD-Changer is mounted now, but I too am interested in the original mounting solution.

Does anyone have a pic of the luggage compartment when the CD-Changer is mounted ?

this is not a cd changer, but mounting options are limited (at the back & on driver's side), and positioning of my amp installation (similiar size- if not larger) may offer an option....which allow full access to the compartment and systems that route through it-along with maximizing storage room.

If I get my car back anytime soon, I will take some pics of the mounting holes and the cable route and post them in this thread.
