Default Good all around but not so expensive tires for my 964?

I am doing 4-5 track events each year so I think my Yokohama Advan Sport tires will be totally worn out in a few months.(the rears mostly) The fast way I am consuming tires calls for a change in my way of thinking

Big brand tires are very expensive here so I was thinking on switching to a lesser brand like Hankook, because most of the cheap brands you have in EEUU are not available here, and importing them is not allowed by our government.
A rear 255/40 x 17 tire can cost here between 600/700 U$S each (Yokos, Bridgestone, Michelin,Pirelli,Good Year) to around 300/350 U$S for a Hankook V12 Evo or other lesser brand

I think I can get these not so expensive brands here: Sumitomo (but not the HTRIII just the HTRII, Hankook(k104 or V12 evo), Dunlop, Kumho,BF Goodrich

I want to know please of your real life experiences with a 964 with any of these tires

I have a friend with the Sumitomo's on his Boxster, he really likes them. I've been using Toyo's on my 964, they're in-expensive, and perform very well. I don't know if you're able to get them in Argentina, but they're worth a look.

I have no issues with Michelin Pilots. The hold a high-speed balance well. The flat-spotting after sitting a couple of weeks seems to be gone after 5 miles or so. Not cheap, but the price/performance balance is good.

I have the sumitomo HTR II?? Anyway they're wonderful tires and cheaper than anything else on the market. The covette guys love them cause they can burn them without regrets.
Price is the lowest in tirerack ,noise is low, grip is medium-high and pretty decent in wet condition. IMO this is a winner..

No such luck Indy, wellcome to the third world!!!, importing tires to this country is forbidden except if you have a friend or relative in the customs office (and are willing to bribe)
The 997 gang are getting crazy because 18 and 19 tires come here only in minimal amounts.
they are thinking of crossing to Uruguay to get tires

You can still get some tires on 17 size because some local cars use 17 size

Sumitomo's are pretty hard for track days. Just check the tread wear rating at tirerack.com I run the Toyo R888's for the track but at a 100 tread wear rating they will not last long on the street or track. Would recommend around a 200 rating for combination driving. Michelin PS are 220. Hancook is a good tire.

Of course some tires do get imported but only by the official brand importer and they still have several containers full of new tires waiting for customs clearance that they get only in small numbers.
For a private party to import tires...no way

This was done a year ago by the commerce secretary to balance our import/export numbers, they don´t want dollars going outside paying imports so they restrict imported goods, if you are a tire manufacturer you can import some sizes only if you export argentinian made tires elsewhere.

I have the Sumitomo HTR IIs on my BMW 335. Love them. Am thinking about putting Sumi's on the 964 but, Tire Rack website does not list them as available for my stock (16 inch) wheels. Anybody know if that is true and I have screwed up one more thing?

I ran Kumho MX on the VW R32 I had before the 964. I really liked them as a street/track/autocross tire.
Probably not the stickiest, but they would last a full season, several autocrosses, a few track days, and 3000 or so road miles.

How about Bridgestone? No personal experience--perhaps someone will chime in--but, according to the Tire Rack surveys, the RE050A Pole Position is a good performer and attractively priced.
