Default replace the gaiter shift boot

Hi guys,

really a lazy question, is i possible to replace the gaiter shift boot with out removing the whole triming arround it, as I have the unusual phone one that goes up to the dash board, thanks

Yes, the gaiter is held in place by a metal ring that you can simply pull out, just pull the front part of the gaiter back and lift out.

Hi jim,

thanks for your answer, I was worried do damage something by pulling or pushing to hard,

the new one has a metal ring glued to it at the botom, the one in place seams to move out of his place if I push it down hard, is that what you mean and lift it out by squeezing and bending it, thanks

Yep, I had to remove the old metal ring from the existing gaiter and transfer it over but I broke the weld on it at the time but if you do not need to reuse then you don't need to be so careful. I can't remember exactly what holds the metal ring in place under the centre console but you should be able to prise it out without too much trouble.
