Default Factory roof bars

Anyone know where I can source a factory roof rack for the 964/993? It is specific in that the rear supports are longer than the fronts to compensate for the roof slope.

I have been weaseled out by an unscrupulous seller from such a factory roof rack and I am fuming mad. So if anyone has one they don't need, please advise!

I bought a Yakima brand which works well (in case you can't find an original).

interesting
part # 911 801 055 00 - set of main supports (coupe)

did you have your dealer (or any dealer) check WW stock? they can see if it is in stock in the US or germany

if you can stand aftermarket there is an easy solution using Thule or Yakama

Thule
use foot 951 front (15cm) and rear 953 (28cm)

Yakama
1A raingutter (7.5 in), 1A Highrise 10.75in (add to 1A high rise)

plus load bars.

Factory roof rack? As in specifically - Porsche branded Tech. Equipment Rack?

Both Thule and Yakama offer riser packs that are suitable if you're not going for a Porsche branded product?

Here's are links with good information (part numbers and pics):
http://www.rackattack.com/thule-rain...foot-packs.asp
AND
http://www.rackattack.com/yakima-base-rack-systems.asp

I grew up racing bikes and have always had good luck with Thule, but both systems are great. Since I already had a rack from a previous car I used those pieces instead of ordering new riser feet for the back. It's not level but I've had all kinds of things on top without any worry...and I'm not worried about how it "looks" either.

I actually have a Thule/Fapa hybrid that levels the bars somewhat.
The factory rack is a work of art however. The rear bar is rotated with regards to the roof rails so that the top remains flat, not leaning to the rear.
And I'll gladly admit being a brand snob for that type of stuff...

I'll wait a while then bend over at the dealer.

Hi George,

I had not seen one of these before. I have to agree with you about the design of the factory racks, very cool.

Have you seen one of these up close? Are these just ski/snow board racks or can you put a bike holder on them? Thanks.

Hi Brian,
How's life? I hope your 964 is treating you well.
The bars are modular, you can adapt a ski rack, a bike rack, a roof box on them.

It says
"This item is Discontinued"
on the search page for the part number.
Anyone have the 993 part number?

Edit, found it: 993 801 055 00

Hi Nick,

No, it won't - the cab version is different from the coupe (see Porsche library photo).

I was really lucky to find one through the Porsche dealer network in Germany earlier this year - plus the Ski & Snowboard racks - but I don't think there any left now.

Sorry... it's not for sale

As usual, best to keep eyes open on eBay and the Porsche forums.
