Default Dual Mass Flywheel Failure?

So, I went to the PBOC event last weekend at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham and the car was running great until the end of the second session. I shifted from 3rd to 4th, the engine just bounced off the rev limiter and stopped pulling. I assumed that the clutch was slipping because when I let out the clutch the car would barely move at low rpms and when I gave it gas it would just rev freely.

Well this weekend I pulled the engine and transmission and found that the clutch disk looked decent. However, the two pieces of the dual mass flywheel actually rotate completely and independently. Does this indicate that the flywheel has failed? The shop manual seems to say that the flywheel should only move at most 15 mms.

If it has failed is it possible to repair it or should it be replaced? Any help would be much appreciated.

If I get a single mass flywheel like the RS lightweight flywheel is it possible to use my current clutch disk and pressure plate? Looks like I will need shorter flywheel bolts and maybe a longer guide tube? Anything else or should I just buy all new sh_t?

Check out Ebay. Some of the lowest prices for LUK dual mass flywheels I've been able to find.
