Default New Interior in process

I’m in the process off redoing the complete interior. All the leather goes from very light grey…to dark grey. Its a daring but funny project. Feels weird to tear the carpets apart, painting the seat with a Bruch….

Now I need help with the panels on the picture. I have been consulting the PET cd…but don’t get any wiser there! Any hints….it sit as a rock to the body…
The project stranded with those panels…so please fill me in in the panel removing magic

Right now I’m waiting on the full Carpet Set from Lakewell company in Belgium. I have bought 2 x 600 ml leather paint from Dynamix in GB. I will post some pictures later today…maybe it will inspire someone to do the same on their car…..

Hey Polman,

I did the same with my 911 SC Coupé some time ago. I had my carpet set ordered with www.cabrio.de. these were just perfect. I also have some experience with Lakewell (i'm from Belgium myself) as i ordered my front trunk carpet set from them. Real neat and nice work they deliver.

Now to answer your question. It really is not that difficult. If I can remember good than all you have to do is lift them upwards. I included a pictures from my rebuild...and you can see that there are some horizontal grey small bars, http://blacklook.magix.net/
where the panel hooks on too.

They are just glued on, the first time you remove them they need more effort than you would think but they do pull off, start prying at one end, slow and steady does it.

Please post lots of pics, Lakewell has the nicest kits i've found, but they are very expensive to purchase w/ US $. Did you get the RS or regular rear?

Hi Bosco Billy, Thanks for the pictures....nice work! I don’t know the difference between 1979 and 1991 panels, but I will try to force it upwards tonight. Maybe there are no hinges as Bill suggested, just glued...
then I have to change tactics and pry it loose with something....I’m a little bit nervous to damage it!

I am looking forward to seeing this project evolve. I am going to be doing the same thing next month. Cheers, and take lots of pics!

Here are some pictures from last night. It’s amazing how good it gets with the Dynamix colour. I washed the Leather with cellulose thinner, and then rubbed it with 600P sandpaper, let it dry so the thinner will evaporate…….Then just hit it with a brush. The pictures off the seat, is with 1:rst layer. I needed 3 layers to cover the light gray…..Check out the gear/handbrake console…..Great! On the first picture you see the console with carpet…and on the 3:rd without…looks like a shameless naked dog

Hey Polman,
Just curious, how did you get the panels removed? Were they glued on or just hooked (like in my SC)
I'm asking because this is also on my TODO list for my 964 one of the coming months... I also have the light grey interior like you (used to) have. ;-)

Looking good. Boscobill, I didn't think I would like that caramel colored interior but with that carpet and matching trim it looks awesome. My car was changed from light gray to black by the PO.

Some pictures for you BoscoBill.....I used the 3 x V:s……Will, Violence and Vaseline…….Some of the panel was a little melted to the tin….so I lifted at the rear and used the two first V:s…and off it went!

To you Boeing 717...I must admit that I have traded my Penthouse magazine for the Centre consol, I cuddle every day with it...just to came my self down during my waiting for the Full Carpet set....I brushed the paint on with a very soft brush and there was no marks at all. The craftsman ship makes a difference when you attack the smooth backside off the driver and passenger seats, maybe a spray gun is the best choice here for the last layer....

Here’s a before picture that I have as a screensaver now!! The dark gray was so god, that I have also ripped the kneepad and the upper instrument panel as well....and dyed them to. Now I will have the same colour for the entire cockpit. The carpets will be slightly lighter....
