I'd go with OE paper (flat) filter. But if you must go with K&N, I would stick with flat type unless you want to a bit more noise from the use of cone type filters. The upside in performance with K&N is questionable since the weakest link is not the with the air filter.
Good luck!

Another vote to stick with the OEM filter... Think of your 964 engine as nothing more than a big air pump. While K&N might induce more air (and look cool) - the rest of the system knows not what to do with it - nor care. Their silly HP "gains" are ridiculous.
As for more dirt into the system with a K&N? You bet. It filters less to breathe more.
Stick with the OEM flat paper filter.

Think also that it's pretty hot under the hood, and the original inlet is not too badly placed to catch cooler air.
Gain is ZERO noise is fun however.

I have found grit in the "clean" side of K&N kit filters. I recently cleaned my intake, and found zero grit despite oily surfaces to hold it. OEM filter.
