1989 C4; Spoiler Goes Up Automatically, Does not Go Back Down Automatically.

No warning on the dash. Spoiler goes up at normal speed, 50 mph, it is not waiting until the higher emergency speed (70 mph). When I come to a complete stop, it does not come down. Manual switch works.
I have read Adrain's book and searched on the site already for a solution.
The car has very low miles and spoiler motor and gearing is like new. Both Microswitches are clean and function, that is, if I manually raise or lower spoiler, the correct microswitch will halt the motor if pushed manually.
I cleaned and lubed gears, cleaned micro switches, unpluged harness near dipstick and cleaned contacts. Any other suggestions?
Thank you!

Since you've checked the microswitches it doesn't leave much beyond the spoiler controller itself. There is some circuitry in there that drops the spoiler at walking pace so I'm guessing there is a problem there. Not a cheap fix though - over £200 here in the UK.

I have a spare module, PN 911.618.112.00 from a '92. I think it fits the early cars, but check P/N on your's. It was repaired with upgraded parts, and tested. $75 exchange, $150 outright. Will guarantee one year (you get 3 months at the dealer, and they get ~$400). PM if interested.

I had some a few problems with the spoiler on mine where it would go down and te motor would keep running. It turned out not to be the micro swtiches or the control unit. On the right hand side of the engine compartment at the back, is a large electrical plug/connection that connects to the interior of the car. This had come loose. I cleaned it up to make sure that everything was connected properly and re-connected it and that fixed the problem, so perhaps worth a look before replacing stuff!

Thank you.
Springer 3, the control modules are different prior to 1991. Thanks though.
Andy, I appreciate the advice. I cleaned that cable connection and reconnected it. The problem still exists. I also cleaned and tested the microswitches.
