Default 964 vs 993 race footage

Found these videos of the Porsche club GB race at Silverstone this year and thought I would post them for your enjoyment. The camera car is Scott Kavanagh in his 993.

The Start of the race

Thought you'd all like it .

In case anyone is confused about what happens in the middle:

The 964, 993 and 968 are racing at the front of the club race and are all class 1 cars (all standard power but weight handicapped to try and produce similar power to weight ratios). Starting about 30 seconds before them were the Porsche Open cars where just about anything goes (GT3-Rs, 993 GT2s, etc). Due to the safety car the club front runners catch some of the Open cars, hence why the 928 has to get out of the way.

Exhilerating to say the least. Astonishing how closely matched the two cars are. I thought the 993 had the 64 passed there with about a minute to go. Great racing!!!

Great videos - thanks for sharing. I agree that it is surprising how closely matched the cars are.

awesome awesome awesome... thanks for sharing. It's funny how playing Forza Motorsport 2 makes me memorize the circuit without ever driving there in real life. I would actually think that playing Forza Motorsport or any other simulation game with accurate circuits is a great preparation before heading out to a new track for the first time...

You should plan a driving holiday Morten and take in a track day at Silverstone. A full day costs about £300 and it's well worth the money to know that you're sharing a track and garages that some of the Motorsport greats have raced on.

You can see from the videos that the Porsche guys are doing about 2:15 laps. The F1 boys do it in about 1:20

On the time I got to drive it myself I would have been way off the Porsche guys' pace especially since it was like this

Wow! It may have not been a good idea to watch that since I am driving my car to work tomorrow via back roads.
