Default Oracle HID kit

I came across this Oracle HID kit (no association)

http://www.automotivelightstore.com/...&Category=2732

Does anyone have any experience with this particular set up? Seems kind of expensive.

Why is no one commenting on this? Will any of these lights fit a 964? Some input please.

HID kits are pretty much the same. Why do you need a fancy carrying case when you're installing them in the car? I get my stuff from bavtoys.com in Miami.

The kits on this site only seem to be made for BMWs

They sell mostly to BMWs, but I have gotten HIDs for my 911. You just need to identify the type of bulb in your housing and they will send you the proper rebase. That is pretty much how all aftermarket retrofits work.

HID lamps in reflector housings are unsafe for many reasons. Here's more info on the subject:

If you want improved lights get H4s - much better pattern than the H5s 964 cars came with in the States.

Ok, who's going to be the test pilot here? I'm out cause I'll be doing suspension and seats first. These look promising as they seem to have the proper style lenses!!!

I agree with Ilko, HIDs in the OEM buckets is a bad combination. You are literally spraying your light all over the place, which is not safe or polite for oncoming traffic. This kit referenced by the OP is, as stated by someone else, just a normal HID kit with bulbs and ballasts. You can get these anywhere, for a lot less too. For example, DDMTuning has them for $65 (http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p...=101&parent=60).

Completely OT for Ilko:

Have some people used HID's in H4's with success as the beam pattern is more focused with a cut off?

The success rate of HIDs in reflector housings is zero. You need a projector housing. If you could drop HID lights in reflector housings, car manufacturers would be doing it themselves.

I can't find it now, but I was looking at a thread yesterday with a link to kits that included a housing that looked like it might work with our cars. If someone saw it and remembers where....please post a link!

I seem to remember someone putting in complete headlight housing from a mini including the HID into a 911?
It looked pretty original.
