18" wheel fitment on 964 RS
Firstly apologies to any UK Rennlisters who have seen the same posted on the PCGB forum (I'm just trying to get a wider opinion)...
I have the opportunity to buy some 18" wheels for my RS but not sure about whether they will be too big/issues with fit/offset.
I am currently using the original mag Cups which are:
Fr 7.5J x 17" ET55 Tyres: 205/50/17
Rr 9J x 17" ET55 (fitted with 18mm spacers to fill the arches) Tyres: 255/40/17
The new wheels are:
Fr 9J x 18" ET50 Tyres: 235/40/18
Rr 10J x 18" ET50 Tyres: 265/40/18
I am happy to change the tyres to a narrower size. I'm really checking to see if the rims would be okay for the car.
Any experience or advice would be much appreciated.

The 9" front wheels might be a bit too wide... The widest front wheel for a NB 964 I've seen is 8.5" but it also depends on the tires. Is there any way to test fit it?
The rear wheels & tires should fit in fine.

Those rears will be sticking out pretty far! I have 18x0 ET65 with 265s on my 993. Not sure I have 15mm more there...
I tell you what, send your RS over here and I will figure out exactly what will fit based on my 18s

The rears should work. I am driving on my RS 9,5x18 ET 47 with 5mm spacers (resulting in an effective ET 42) and there are still some Millimeters left to the fender.
I doubt that the front will work.
1) 235/40-18 may most probably cause rubbing
2) Even a 225/40-18 on a 9 inch rim is not the optimum
3) I would recomment 8x18 ET52 (maybe 8,5 x18 ET50) - a 9 inch rim is too big for the small 964 front.

I think the rear rims would be ok, but the tires would be too big in my opinion. I would think you need 265/35-18 instead of 265/40-18. With the current tire dimensions you have a larger tirediamenter (not sure what its called in english, but the distance all around the tire) in the rear thatn front.
