Thumbs up just returned home from seeing the movie!

Very cool. I won't spoil it for anyone.
Expect Red 964 prices to go out of sight.

I really had to restrain myself. THATS MY CAR, THATS MY CAR, THATS MY CAR.

looks good on screen. and, it was neat to see the scenes that were filmed on the day we visited the set.

Go see it. It is funny, but you have to pay attention. And, you won't get that music out of your head.

Can't wait til the DVD comes out. I may have to go back to the theater again.

It got 4 stars in today's National Post (Canada). "A movie you might go see twice".

Default RL reviews?

Has anyone else seen the film? Let's hear some (honest) reviews. (I really don't need to specify honest here on RL, we're all friends here and no one ever seems to hold back...)

The online reviews from movie goers seems mixed if not polar. (bi-polar?..... you need to see the movie). I think it is an intelligent comedy. A lot of reviewers went to the movie thinking it was going to be a slapstick comedy, based on the (over-done) TV commercials and trailers. Example: IMO, the funniest moment in the movie - "well, I think it's time for me to go back to the hospital."

The Porsche gets some good screen time, but I could have had more. A GIANT image of my car cruising down the road.... wuhooo. I plan to go back for a second viewing, and of course buy the DVD.

When he was parking the black car in the garage, was that a Ferrari or the 8 series?

We'll go see it, maybe this weekend. Seriously, they couldn't send you an advance DVD of the movie?

Oh, and I hit send too early........

I got a call to bring my car out back in '85 for a movie called American Anthem with Mitch ******* (the athlete who was trying to be an actor) and Janet Jones (pre-Mrs. Gretzky). Was just an "extra" scene, and my car didn't even make the final cut. But I got a girlfriend out of the day, the "other" call for extras being hot college girls........

In the garage was the BMW 8 series, a black Ferrari Testarossa, and a black Mercedes, on the day we were there for filming. I don't think the Ferrari made it in any driving scenes, just the garage shot. We did hear from some of the crew that Matt and his body guard got in a bit of trouble while out joy-riding in the Ferrari. They didn't relay any tales of Matt and the Porsche, tho. Matt swore he never got it out of second gear.

There were several cars solicited for some shots in the downtown area, and I saw some clips from those scenes, but none of it made it into the movie. My car was "working" that day, too. I am sure all those car owners were disappointed their cars didn't make the cut.

I finally saw the movie. Obviously the star of the film is the car. I was surprised they did not pop up the spoiler although they did a nice upside down shot of the car.

DWS964’s car is now in the annals of film history with its own page on the InterNetCarDatabase.

That's pretty darn cool!

When we spoke with Matt on the day that shot was filmed, his comment was: "It's a great car; but they won't let me get it out of second gear." So, that mostly explains why the spoiler was not popped up for the shots. (although it WILL go up if you take 2nd gear to near redline...)

But then, they let that kid take a juice box in my car!

Now I will have to look at the IMCDB to see if one of my other cars is listed. I sold a 1931 Model A to Paramount Studios and it was used in two scenes of The Untouchables filmed around 1985 in Chicago. (opening scene, parked in front of building that explodes, and scene where the bad guy falls off the building and falls through the roof of the parked car)

There may be a second 964 used in the filming of The Informant. I spoke with the owner (PCA Member from Santa Barbara, CA) a few weeks ago at the Porsche Festival of Speed in Fontana, CA. The glovebox of the car is signed by the stunt driver and the director. I took a photo but its not on this laptop. Ill post later.

That will be great to see. The transportation director contacted me a few months after they finished filming with my car, they needed a car to finish up or re-do a shot and were in CA. Shane said they found a car but it maybe had flag mirrors or different wheels. I wonder if the stunt driver was "Chance" - great guy who drove the transport truck, and who all the ladies swooned over.
