Default Replacement ABS brake pumps - Invasion Auto Products?

Hi all,

My brake pump decided to die. Has anyone ever dealt with Invasion Auto Products? I'm contemplating buying one of their replacement ABS brake pumps and wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with them.

Thanks!

I have a nearly new ABS pump for 1990-1994 C2 964s (no turbo, no C4). I actually have 2 spares, but one of them is off of a 30,000 mile car. Email me if you can use it. keith.olcha@verizon.net

My C4 ABS booster pump is getting weak and taking really long to pressurize the system causing a central alarm once in a while so this is a timely post. I have no experience with this group but thats a good price for a rebuilt unit and they are about an hour away from me.

I called them this morning and they dont have any in stock. They sell as fast as he gets them in. You can ship your unit to the shop and have it rebuilt. Turn around time, according to the person I spoke with, is usually 1 day. They include a 1 yr warranty on the rebuild. Rebuild includes new armatures, bearings, pressure switch and testing. This is 1/3 the cost of a new unit and potentially a better gamble than used pumps seen on eBay.

Stephen - Before you rebuild your pump, have you bled the ABS pressure accumulator (bomb)?

If its just the motor itself , not the pump head or the seals , the motor can be fixed up .
The one part I have not been able to find is the shaft seal for the shaft that runs from the motor into the pump head . I think I have a good motor with a bad shaft seal in storage . I hope to get a "core" return in the mail soon . If the "core" that is returned has a good motor or a fixable motor ...

I think I might go and look around again for a source of the shaft seal . I have a few ideas were they might be hidden .

In what way did it die ?
Is it leaking fluid ?
Or has the motor stopped running ?
If it is the case that the motor stopped running ,
if you hook the motor up to the battery directly ,
does it run ?

Olcha911 - Thanks, but as Indycam mentioned, I need the C4 pump.

911urge - Many thanks for the info. Did you speak to Sam?

Of note, my brake system was original and suffering from age and wear/tear. The accumulator gave out first, followed by the pump, and the first signs of both components starting to give out showed up during several track days, usually under heavy braking from high speeds. The brake pedal, while not falling to the floor, would feel like there was no pressure feedback and the car would not slow significantly.

Indycam - The motor does not acctuate and there is no pressure feedback when you step on the brake pedal. My mechanic has done some tests on it, and it is non-functional.

Has your mechanic looked inside the motor ?
Its a standard electric motor . It might just need brushes .
If you take it to a electric motor rebuild shop , they might fix it up for you .

Ok, thanks for the tip, I'll check it out. My mechanic said that the pump can't be taken apart with destroying it, but perhaps a motor rebuild shop will know better.

The shop you were asking about rebuilds them .
They take them apart and fix them up .
I have taken them apart and put them back together .

Some people will not take things apart and fix them .
They will only replace parts .
I was listening to a repair shop owner ,
he was saying that they don't open up engines and fix them ,
if the engine has an internal problem he orders up a whole rebuilt engine
and replaces the thing as a unit .

I completely agree with you, what I mean is that he has no idea how to take the pump apart without destroying it, and I don't really trust some random shop out here to fix such a crucial component, so I'd rather send it back Stateside to someone who I know knows what they are doing.

Not to discount his capabilities though, when it comes to rebuilding engines, my mechanic is a downright genius

Its not hard to take apart / put back together .
When I get the core motor / pump back
I might do a photo / diary of the take apart / put back together .

Definitely please do post a DIY guide if you do happen to go through the process, those of us who are mechanically inept would be extremely grateful
