Are 964 and 993 fenders interchangeable?

Are 964 and 993 fenders interchangeable?
I've seen older cars updated to look like 993s, but are the factory fenders a truly bolt-on affair? If so, are all of the fastener and mounting points used on both the chassis and fender?
