Dear Rennlist knowledge bank
I'm new to this forum, and teetering on the verge of a 964 purchase.
The car I'm hoping to get to travel and see very soon has aftermarket wheels and tyres - any feedback on what these enlarged widths do to the handling???
The alloys are by www.ap-car-design.de - design is AP - Cup - Rad
Tyres are DUNLOP Sport Maxx front 245/45 ZR18 rear 265/35 ZR
The recommended tyres for the fronts are: 225 / 40 ZR 18
They are TUV approved (German legalisation for aftermarket car bits).
Many thanks in advance!!
Gareth.

quick correction - the front tyres are indeed 225 / 40 ZR 18 as suggested on the website, but the same question applies - what do these increased tyre widths (front and rear) do to the handling?
Suspension has been uprated with H&R springs (35mm drop).

Generally speaking, that setup will reduce the understeer on an otherwise stock vehicle, but will not eliminate it. Technically you could go up to 245 wide in the front and 275 wide in the rear, with the help of spacers and flattening the oil line in the right rear wheel well.

any comments on the rust - all fairly typical I assume? What needs to be done to control it?
Any other points I should be paying particular attention to??
Thanks! Gareth.

The windshield rust can be problematic as you'll need to remove the windshield to see the true extent of the rust. It is usually much worse than what appears on the surface.
