Default Which cat delete?

So many options. Dansk, B&B etc.
Thinking about pulling the trigger on this one.

Please advise.

The Fabspeed "Euro Pre Muffler" is also a great option and benefits from no welded on bracketry. Fit was/is perfect, no issues there. On other (bypasses/tip) exhaust parts Dansk has also worked and fit perfectly.

IIRC I thought Fabspeed had generally exposed B&B product as garbage, no ? I pulled off the B&B primary exhaust that my '90 C2 came with when I modded my exhaust system and was impressed with it being kind of a PoS.

Why was it a POS? My car came with a B&B primary bypass... anything I should look for?

how loud do you want it to be? I am going with a gpipe just for a little louder. I heard that with teh cat delete and primary bypass it can be very loud.

I have cat and primary bypass in my cab. It is fairly loud, but less than I expected. Would like a little less volume, but do not want to go with standard cat. Looking for a sport cat to see if that is a little better.

Mada1: The B&B primary muffler I took off of car was what I'd referred to as a PoS. Build quality and fit seemed lacking, and it was trez heavy, although I've never had the OE primary muffler on the car to compare it to. So @ current: OE media blasted/refinished manifolds dump into Fabspeed Euro pre-muffler and then into Dansk primary and secondary bypasses and finally into Dansk tip. Fabspeed and Dansk parts are very impressive for fit/finish/materials and bolted up w/o any issues whatsoever.

Loud........uh.........yah. Although the car sees only occasional street/back-road use and DE events. Can not possibly count the positive comments on sound of car from local gear-head compatriots. No issues with the constable or track decibel limitations as yet. Driving is certainly an "event" in current config; sans all sound deadening materials inside & out (RS Perlon in, interior/engine sound padding binned). Resulting exhaust note is much like that of attached Duc w/45mm Termignoni's times 4.

You may be able to get a pretty good deal on a Schnell through Vertex's eBay listing. Best offer! Comparable quality and perfect fit.

I have Dansk primary and cat bypasses. Lovely sound, not too loud, fit perfectly. Never had complaints from neighbors, and I live in the pickiest, most reactionary neighborhood in North America.

Thanks for the link Joey. So what is the difference between a "sport" cat and a straight cat bypass. Do the internals of the "sport" cat clean the exhaust enough to pass emissions? I'd love the efficiency of cat bypass without the need to swap out the cat every 2 years. Thanks.

I just installed my Maxspeed Cat Bypass and everything fit except the bung for the temp sensor was in the wrong place. I had to Dremel out the hole a bit in the heat shield to get it to fit...not cool. Otherwise the unit is nice and appears to be the same thing as the Vertex piece shown above. So now I have Cup Pipe, Cat Bypass and Steve Wong Chip. I can feel a difference in power and the sound is just right for me. Sounds great when I want to hear it and can barely notice it with the windows closed.
BTW, be careful transferring the bolt plugging the temp sensor hole from the Cat to the Bypass. I broke mine off and ended up buying a new one for the bypass...still have to pull that broken sucker out of the Cat.

Adam,

Will you be able to pass smog with this sport cat? Did you have to install the SW chip to accommodate a LWF set-up, or just because? Can you smell the exhaust more now than before?

Thanks bud

I did it just because, no lightweight flywheel.
I don't think it will pass smog; Ill just switch it back to stock before the inspection.
It does not smell any different, although I have made a real test.
I just drove the car and have to say, I love it.
