964 gearing different from 993?

So looking at the chart, my '92 has the longer of the two US R&P's. If changing gearing is out of the question (too much $$$ right now) would changing from the 3.33 to the 3.44 out of a G50/03 or /10 be more affordable (a loose term with these cars) or even worthwile?
