Default H4 fitment

I would like to install the H4 light on my car, I see used ones for sale now and then, so my question is, do all H4 lights fit a 964, or only certain years/model?

They all fit. You will have to get H4 connectors like these:

Plus, if you have level adjusment and want to keep it, you will need to get the right units.

Unfortunately that option was not available on US/Canadian cars.

Just make sure you get lenses for your LHD as RHD cars are (obviously) aimed differently.

One option that works to give you better lighting is to replace the H5 lense with a H4 lense - Just takes a little glue and sealer - of course you have to break the H5 lense / clean area and then replace with the H4 - then lens really help - and you get a better fit around the head light - Here are some pics of the H4/H5 lens - The clear or cleaner lens is the H4

How about the trim rings? Will the stock 964 painted trim rings fit with these euro lights that come with black or chrome rings? Or will I have to paint the new ones that come with the euros?

"Fankenlamp" is an interesting option. But after having real Euros on past cars, I want the full reflector, bulb, lens unit. 90's DOT lights are just so pathetic.

Thanks,
Rich

H5 trim rings don't fit. You'll need to paint the rings that come with the H4 lights, or get H4 trim rings that go on top of them. I fully agree on the 90's DOT lights.

I also strongly recommend doing a relay setup for the lamps. That way you can choose up-rated bulbs and get some more light on the road. Also relays unload the dimmer switch, so it lasts longer.

The Frankenlamp might be one option, but you're still stuck with the wrong type of bulbs, and the filaments aren't in the right place within the housing to make the lights most effective.

Hey - thanks, like the name / I never thought of the Frankenlamp / maybe because it is to close to our older last name when my family first came to America from Transylvania. The relay is a must do - especially if you are going to put in higher watt bulbs - I run 100 plus whites lights and have used 4 relays - I used the old wires for the activation power and then ran a wire directly from the battery to the relays then to the head lamps. Mounted the relays right next to wheel well in the boot area. Note each line now has its own fuse just as a safety precaution - works great and I have not had any problems - see pics
