5 1/2 years for me and, unfortunately not used anything like enough. It's totally impractical for my daily driver - parking on the street in Council estates etc. - so it gets relegated to weekend fun only.

I've never spent SO much money on a car in my life and the thought of somebody else getting the benefit of all that expenditure just fills me with horror. Do you think they charge extra to bury you IN the car???

Regards

Dave

I've owned a 964 since 2002 and this one since 2004. I'll only ever sell it to buy another 964 - I have always wanted a Maritime Blue RS....

And, to create more variables in the Metric, there are likely some 964 owners who will claim (justifiably) that their car is greater than a 1.0 car. For example, Geoffrey should be allowed to claim his race car as 1.375, perhaps 2.375 .

1 year, and thousand km. Certainly a keeper, meant to be kept as pristine as possibly - therefore not a daily driver but more a sunday driver during the sommer months.

Well my wife has wanted a porsche 25 years. We have had the 964 for 1 week after researching it for 10 years. (no point rushing these things) drifted from SC to 3.2 to 964 to 993 and back again. Found a real beauty and peeling my wife out of the car for domestic duties now represents a challenge. Terry

Picked mine up at the factory in Aug. 1990. I was giving a paper at a conference in Stuttgart in Sept., was turning 40 years old and as I loved the wife very much it was the obvious choice instead of a mistress. (My friends told me it would be also far cheaper). I owned it until 2003 when under temporary insanity I sold it and purchased a 996 C4S. After 5 years I managed to track down "my" 964 and purchased it from the 3rd owner for the same price I sold it. Owner 2 and 3 spent $10k+ in the 5 years so things worked out.
Like others on this forum I simply love driving this car!

The new 911s do everything better except they do not have as much of the "fun driving" feel as the 964. You enjoy driving them but you do not emerge grinning! They are closer probably to the Panamera- which I like (and might buy). I suspect that the 911 and Panamera will slowly blend into one over the next decade.

One can only hope any "blending into one" (of rear- and front-engined cars) results in a 'meeting in the middle' -- mid-engine.

You could go for cremation in the car. I reckon if you got a friend to park it on a council estate, one of the local residents would do it for free.

Reminds me of a song that James Taylor sang (showing my age!):

"When I die I don't want no coffin
I've thought about all to often
Just strap me in behind the wheel
And bury me in my auto mobile!"

I are one three. Technically, car-years is not specific enough and should be 964-years but to avoid confusion and requirements creep, I will accept car-years. I had my first ('93 RSA) for 6 car-years, sold it and was 964-less for 4 years during which I had a Boxster S, 944S2, and 968. I have had my current 964 for 1.2 car-years for a total of 7.2 car-years. Although, I only claimed 1-2 years for the purposes of the poll.

9 years, 3 months.... Still love it. Washed it on Sunday and can't stop staring at it... Hope to add to the 964 collection someday (93/94 RSA, 92 US Cup, 94 Turbo & 92 America Roadster)

I bought my 1993 RS America brand new at Bill Jacobs Motorsports in Naperville, ILL in May of 1993. Still have it. 16+ years old. I still have the window sticker, etc. Midnight Blue. $10,000 off sticker as they had three on the lot and NO ONE wanted them... Funny how things change...
