Default seeping oil line - replace?

Hi all
My oil line from filter housing to engine (rubber-metal-rubber) that runs along the back of the engine is seeping some oil from the area under the heat shield. The oil is not even dripping so not bothered by that but just wondering if this pipe has been known to fail catastrophically?

Don't want to risk a blowout on this pipe if it has been know to occur. Any thoughts?

Not sure about a blowout, but it is time to replace it... one of the headers will need to come off to reach the engine side...

Oil leak

Jamie - Great pictures. Did you intentionally leave off the heat shield for the oil line flex area?

I did... still have them. But looking at the older car and reading about those being only for noise reduction, and the fact that I get joy out of looking at the engine, I ended up removing more and more of them everytime I worked in the car...

nice pix! Is that the "leaker" housing on the wheel well that Pete Zimmermann mentioned in his book as a problem 964 area ?

Gchristofi, is the oil line itself seeping or is the oil running down from the filter housing? My hose was wet with oil but it was all coming from the union. Tightening it up stopped it leaking.

I have also left the sound shields off. Don't you like valve noise?

I wasn't referring to the sound shields. I meant the shiny cloth that is supposed to be wrapped around the foil line flex area. It is there to reflect the muffler's heat away from the oil. But if you want to run without, that's ok too. I was just wondering why? Its not heavy and its easy to install, so I decided to use it.
