Odd noise tracked to broken Hand brake part
Thought I have been going mad. Been hearing an odd tinkleing noise every now and again for a while.
Was certain it was brake/handbrake related so took a look today.
As I removed the disk a broken spring fell on the floor. Its only purpose seems to be to hold the shoe against the back is that so?
Question is. Is this a Porsche only part or will I be able to source something like this from any brake quick fit type place
Oh and do you think its ok to drive with this spring missing.
you can see in this picture the shoe sticks out
Cheers.

Ok to drive without that part but you will have to remove the rest of the emergency brake shoes...
Those springs are there to pull back the e-brake shoes once you release the e-brake.
You can try a local brake shop to see if they have them.
Let me get you the part number from PET
Just remember that your ebrake will not work... so keep that in mind when parking...

Hi Jaime
That would be great.
Just to be clear its not one of the two large springs that hold the two shoes together and pull them back in once the brake is released. It only seems to hold the shoe in place against the back.

Three Wheelin'
I bought the same spring for my car last year, £5!!!
From the stealers and they had it in stock, wot a rip-off IMO.
And it didnt affect the car only the handbrake.
