I have never raced and wouldn't pretend to know what the driver was thinking, but my observation suggests that was his one real chance to take the lead (as you noted). Hmmmmm will never know with so many variables....who wants a Chrysler?

Just had to add a picture of my experience, being chased by a f150 svt lighting who would have though it possible. Damn i need to lower my ride.
in all fairness this was my first time to the glen and first solo event, probably not a good combination.
