Default newbie question

So I was driving around sat and noticed the temp gauge rising. It was around 80 or less outside and was sitting going thru a drive thru and the guage went to around 9 oclock and then went down once I stated moving again.

Is this normal? anything to concern myself about? Never really went above 8 oclock when driving all day. Also for future if it is really hot out in the 90's F and stuck in traffic what do you do to keep the temps down?

Raise the rear spoiler? make any difference?

My guess is that your thermostat opened, hence the drop and steady 8 O'clock reading.

All's well.
Variations like that happen throughout a dynamic drive (and are of no ill importance) due to variations of engine loading, wind flow to the right front oil cooler, oil cooler fan thermostat turning the fan on & off & on & off &....

Your car's fine and showing you that all's well. She's alive and breathing.

Hurley Haywood's answer to that exact question (as he shills for the company): When it goes into the red zone. [4:00]

(Oh! -- Though they're selling 993's, here, that race footage is pure 964 RS, baby!)

Trivia: also notice at 1:48 that the steering wheel isn't centered in front of the driver. It's slightly offset toward car-center. (-Who knew?)

also The prev owner was using mobil 1 15w-50 should i keep using that or change to a different grade of oil. Not asking about which brand, but 15w 50 is harder to find. Was that being used because the motor was rebuilt 7,000 miles ago?

oh Patric Schtewart!....

We should likely have a pema-link to that video so everyone can at least see it once. Some good starter info there.
