I'm in the US. My car does not like a battery disconnect. Not so much an idle problem as a bit of reluctance when cold.
It was chipped when I purchased, but it's now back to a factory chip.

mine is all fine 
so what ever i read doesnt apply to my car.. however i did take it out for the spirited drive as advised, i dont think it made any difference to the car, it did however reward me with a big grin.
