The reason I made the joke is that the European formulas vary from the ones we have over here. I really don't have an answer for Low. Mobil 1 over there might have enough ZDDP... Then again, it might not. I've heard good things about Elf, but I've also heard that it costs the equivalent of liquid gold so...
I don't think Brad Penn, Redline, etc. are available over there either
FWIW, and I too do not know if Brad Penn is available in the UK, but I just switched from Mobil 1 to BP and have noticed the car does not leak as much as it did prior to change. I've been watching it now for a couple of weeks. I would say it's gone from a couple of teaspoon fulls to a teaspoon, and now it is only leaking at the trans/motor connection. I am happy so far
heard synthetics will cause motors to leak more if older motor
Brad Penn oil is a semi-synthetic oil. Some people only use snythetic and others use dino oil, but change it frequently. This topic has been debated to death. I would go with best of both worlds and use a semi-synthetic. I would see what the previous owner used and make a decision from there.
Not to belabour the point, but prior to buying my 964 I had switched from Mobil 1 to Valvoline Racing VR1 in my 951, but the PO of the 964 has been using Mobil 1. Has anyone here ever used valvoline racing in their 964? Oil change is not required yet, but price wise and performance, the valvoline racing was rather worthwhile.

biggles
From what I understand the Valvoline oil is close to Brad Penn in terms zinc and no ashless blend. If it is working than no reason not to stick with it.
