Hi everyone,
As some of you know,i've just taken delivery of my first 964.
1990 guards red with loads of goodies.
All seems well apart from two issues which i'm sure you can suggest the remedies for.
1] the engine hunts on idle
2]the pipe inside the rear o/s wheel has a very slight oil weep.
the car has 111k miles, well serviced,de-cat pipe with full h&s exhaust, kn filter and recently had a new oxygen sensor fitted.
Any suggestions ????
Mnay thanks for all you help and words of encouragement leading up to collection day.
I can't stop driving it !!!!!

Congrats, I would look into cleaning the idle stabilization valve and look for vacuum leaks as even a little one in the right place can get that needle moving around.

As above - ISV is a good place to start. But my car also hunted badly (and started stalling) when I bought it. Turned out to be very worn distributor caps / rotor arms. Sometimes, people forget the basics.

Some good info on that oil weep here:

I had it and once I'd obtained the right spanners (32 and 36 mm) managed to tighten the joint and stop the weeping. You'll need to give it a good clean down first to identify which of the two joints is leaking.

I would check the ISV first as it doesn't cost you a dime to clean it. As Dave K said above, check the distributor caps and rotor for wear. These were the culprit for my hunting idle condition.

A potential vacuum leak has already been mentioned. More specifically, try to tighten/snug up every single clamp on the intake manifold system that you can possibly locate. Almost certainly some of those connections are loose anyway and that looseness (and an associated air leak) just may be the cause of your idle issue.
