Default Best spark plug socket?

Gang,

My factory tool kit seems to be missing the standard Porsche spark plug socket. What would be the best replacement, and what dimension should I be looking for (metric size, etc)?

Also, as to the best combination of tools for the job, what's your recommendation? I'm hearing differing views on swivel ratches and 4" versus other size extensions.

Thanks,
ketel

You want a 16mm (5/8 in) spark plug socket with a rubber plug holder from your favorite tool maker:

Hope this helps,

Hazet and Snap-on make magnetic spark plug sockets. The rubber plug style work, but eventually the rubber hardens or gets too dirty to work properly. I found I needed a 3/8 universal joint to get around the PS pump to get to #3 on the top. I don't think there are any metric size spark plugs - 5/8" and 13/16" are the common sizes.

True... that is why I keep this one in the tool box and the factory one in the trunk... afraid to break it as it looks/feels soooo delicate.
