polish choice ?

I use Collonite too.
The tin looks like a traditional tin of wax from the 1950s. IIRC it was originally developed by a US company to prevent ice sticking to overhead powerlines. It is very easy to use, no white residue and rain simply beads off and makes cleaning the car an absolute doddle.

OK, I need someone else to plug Zaino polish here, 'cos I sell the stuff (UK distributor) so I can't plug it myself!

Start with Meguiars Mirror Glaze #7 Show Car Glaze Polish and finish with Meguiars Mirror Glaze #26 Liquid Hi-Tech Yellow Wax. Applied and removed by hand for maximum workout!

Three Wheelin'
Hey Stan,
I just used those two products a few weeks ago (on a black car) and I'm not so impressed with the outcome. Water isn't beading up nearly as well as I would expect and the "just waxed" slippery feel is all but gone already (this isn't a garaged car). You've had good results? I'm going to go with a clay bar / cleaner / wax system next time around.

I use Zaino too and have been very happy with it. I do find the car looks shinier a couple of days after I waxed it, which I've never quite understood! But it lasts a long time - quick wash and it looks like it's just been waxed again.

I actually used TW today. A very vintage bottle at that...
I have been using Zymol almost exclusively for the last ten years. Today I went to wax and realized I had left the lid off (very little was left anyway) and the bottle was also slightly cracked. I found an extremely old bottle of Turtle Wax in my garage (circa 1998). I tried some on a pad and it seemed fine. After waxing the entire car I think it looks better than the last zymol wax I did, go figure!?!
Also just to add on the subject of waxing, I find that the applicator, cloths, climate, technique and beer seem to make as much difference as what brand it says on the bottle....

I've used TW once or twice over the last couple of years (although not on the 964) - and I agree, it does give a decent shine when it goes on. Problem is - it doesn't seem to keep it for all that long. My guess is, that's one of the biggest differences between "cheap" waxes and the stuff we pay a bit more for - the actual initial shine may not be that different, but two weeks later the difference would be quite pronounced.

Nick,
I have used the Meguiars for a while and found the best results. A lot of other products people use work great if the car you are starting with is in great paint condition and they are parked inside.
On the black outside cars like my truck I use the swirl remover to remove the old wax instead of the Polish. The Liquid wax should leave it very slippery for weeks even parked outside. I do use the clay bars but only to remove stuff really embedded in the paint. I have a white bmw that gets gunk stuck in the paint and the clay bar is the only way to remove it. You still have to wax it after using the clay bar.
Did you put it on really thick?

It's because the Zaino polymers 'cross-link' (no, i don;t understand either!). Basically, it takes a few hours to cure properly, and the shine improves as it cures.
