Default Part Number help

Yet again, PET has defeated my strenuous efforts...

There is a small hole (a small finger could just poke through) at each side of the engine tinware, roughly in line with the upper, middle spark plugs.

The holes should be filled with rubber/plastic plugs - can anyone help me out with their part number(s), please? The plugs, I mean - not the holes, I don't need any more of those...

John,

Not sure exactly where the holes are that you are trying to fill/plug. The engine tin and associated plugs is located in Pet section 105-05 thru 105-12. Can you help narrow down the area of the mystery hole?

Looked there, Rob, but can't see it.

It's somewhere above the oxygen sensor when viewed from the underside.

Very hard to photograph as access is so bad but...

John,

That's the area I was focusing on too. It appears that #10 is the tin in your photos, so I would say #11 has to be it. My car's oxygen sensor wire goes through #11 (rubber grommet). Does your car have its cat removed?

Now that I've managed to take a good look at the other side (the underneath), the hole is actually directly in line with the one that the lead for the oxygen sensor passes through, and about six inches further back from it.

The cat's removed, but the bypass has an oxygen sensor.

If that's it, according to PET there ought to be three on each side, but I can't see the others - and I'd expect 5 caps and 1 grommet, but PET seems to say there are 6 caps.

I just took a trip to the parking lot with a flashlight. My '91 C2's engine tin looks like #10 in the PET diagram. It only has one hole in it and that is used by the oxygen sensor wire & grommet. Could it be that UK motors different or could the previous owner have modified it?

Strange that - at least it explains why I couldn't find another four matching holes. I guess I'll just plug it with something suitable - the tinware is looking a bit sorry for itself anyway and is on my project list to replace.

Porsche could just call them all caps, and not differentiate between them in that instance.
