Default Drainage

I was driving to work this morning in the driving rain and as I saw all the water flow this way and that I got to thinking about where all this water was going....

Is there a way I can inspect the various body drainage points and make sure water is flowing through them properly? Where are those drainage ports?

I am thinking about water that gets past the seals around the sunroof, windows, hood, etc....

Thanks!

JTSR.

Sunroof drains are= rear under the engine hood, lift and and left/right are two grommets. Front goes out through the "A" illars and small tubes under the wing/A pillar join, open the door and you should be able to see two small tubes about 3-4 inches long.
Doors are wet design, so check them when open and that there are 3-4 small 1/8 wide 1inch long holes to allow drainage under each door.

Scuttle drains exit in the centre of the underfloor area - the exit looks like a pair of lips. Front sunroof drains exit immediately in front of each door's leading edge - you can see the stubs of the tubes when doors are fully open. Fuel filler area drains behind left front wheel. Boot drains onto the floor. Oil drains out everywhere...

I do get a lot of water under the passenger side floor carpet, what exactly should I be inspecting in order to fix this?

I sometimes get water dripping on my drivers foot after heavy rain

Are there drains in the front air intake under the windshield ?

That sounds like the HVAC condensation dripping. The drains come out under the car near the fuel pump. About middle. You can run a wire into the tube and clean it out. Careful, when the jam up comes free water sometimes come gushing out.

The rear foot wells are the low point so its natural that that's where the water collects. You should check several possible sources of the water intrusion.

1) Leaky weather stripping around the doors
2) Plugged water drains in the bottom of the doors
3) Plugged drains in the ventilation system
4) Leaky weather seal around the windshield
5) Plugged sunroof drains

Good luck on your repair.

I have my car stripped down, and it's back from paint, and I'm finally reassembling it. I spent a good hour routing those A-pillar drainage tubes.. but now I think they are done wrong.

Does anyone have a picture of where they exit? Right now, I have them exiting into the front trunk, as I thought they'd hook into the HVAC suitcase drainage for some reason.

Interesting. I cannot seem to find the routing. Here is where I have mine now.

My car has no sunroof so this is a semi-useful photo but I seem to recall on other cars that there was a larger black water drain tube that ran alongside the small black drain tube for the brake fluid overflow.

I think that tube is for the earlier cars. Im still not sure I ran mine correctly. Maybe there are two channels in the A-pillar that the tube can run through?
