Default '89 Cruise Control

Yesterday I purchased an '89 964-4. It would appear that the cruise control is not working. Does the cruise system need to be "switched on" somehow before the control stalk to be active? If not, what/where are the components that need to be checked in order to troubleshoot the system?

Thanks in advance

Tim

Mine works intermitently. The shop cleaned the control module for me at my last service because it didn't work at all. It needed a new cable too. The new unit is high so I'm living with it for now. They are prone to corrosion.

Cruise control is not the most intuative design. Do you have an owner's manual?

Default Cruise Control Troubleshooting

Some notes that I've saved:

Code:
    Cruise Control troubleshooting
What I have gathered is that the most common reason for the failure is
the Brake light switch under the pedel assembly, then the clutch Pedel
        switch.
Further check the control arm linkage at the throttle area . Then you
need to check the speedometer conection on the back of the
spedometer. Then the computer controler under the console.

Best of luck getting it sorted!

The clutch switch needed adjusting on mine when I bought it.
