Default Racing shop, Manhattan New York?

Hi there,

I'm visiting Manhattan next week and I would like some help on where to find a store that sells Sparco helmets, preferably on or near Manhattan.

I guess most shops are located outside the cities, but anyway.

Best regards
Anders

There is currently no Sparco dealer in NY. The following dealers are located in states near by:

MID ATLANTIC TRADING
126 EVERGREEN ROAD
NEW EGYPT, NJ 8533
Tel: (609) 758-9800
Fax: (609) 758-1387

I live in Manhattan. There are no racing shops here. The closest one is Stable Energies in New Jersey: www.stableenergies.com/

Let me know if you need assistance with anything in the City, I'd be happy to help you.

Do you really want to pay all the extra tax for one in Manhattan when you could order one off the net?

Yeah, unfortunately there isn't a lot of demand here. I could be wrong, but although there are a lot of wealthy individuals here some of whom keep racing cars in the City, it is not a large enough crowd to sustain that type of a business venture. The other thing is that I really wouldn't want to get into retail in Manhattan - profit margins are close to zero when you calculate all your expenses. Rent is a huge factor and the 8.75% sales tax doesn't help much either.

If you go out to the suburbs where there is more car culture and demand, along with cheaper rent and lower taxes, you can potentially sustain a business venture such as this.

E-commerce is the way to go IMO when it comes to niche markets.

Well it was a long shot but thank you anyway. My wife and I got married in New York and now some twenty years later we are going back. I guess it's not the perfect time to look at racing accessories anyway.

Kind regards

Give her a purse and an afternoon on 5th Ave and you'll be free to go wherever you want What a great anniversary gift!

I wouldn't dare to do that, my wife is a serious shopaholic as most stewardesses seams to be. I see it more like work to babysit her AmEx than a vacation. When I asked if we shouldn't stay the weekend as well she answered, "Why? The stores are closed".

Lets hope there are not any stores in Times square where we stay...

We did the same thing - got married in NY (Queens) and then came back to Manhattan for our 20th - but only from San Francisco.

Well my wife visits NY all the time, I just gets to SPA-Francorchamps, Nürburburg ring and such.

Anyhow it's well overdue, it's 22 years since that day.
