Default Aero mirror conversion

I have a 1990 C2 with the old flag style outside mirrors. I would like to change to the later Aero style outside mirrors. I'm not into chopping wires or drilling holes in a 30K mile car. What is the procedure to upgrade to these mirrors.

Try this - http://www.964uk.com/Documents/TearDropExposedv2.pdf

However, when I bought my car it had some Aero mirrors on it with the bases from the flag mirrors which might be a way to avoid chopping the wires, but I have no idea where they came from! Perhaps someone else does?

I think it was Gemballa that used to do that conversion.

I had to cut the wires on my my first 964 in order to retrofit the aero mirrors. It was a pretty easy conversion.

I bought the mirrors without the electric motors and just let the original wires drop into the door. So no cutting at all and easy to put back.
I saved cause the manual mirrors are cheaper and since I'm the only driver I don't need to move them.

Good idea!

I guess you also save weight by not having the motors too...!

You don't have to cut the wires... you can always just pull out the connectors out of the plugs... not much of a difference since they don't match/fit... but if the word "cut" bothers you, that is another option...

The big question now is if the wire color codes match, from the car to the newer aero mirror. That would make what ever has to happen much easier. If not, It would be time consumming trying to get it right.

They don't match and the connectors are not the same (so even if you pull them out, you can't use them in the new plug).

There was a company that made a connector... but that was a waste of $... just follow the directions in the write up to match the wires.
