Default Small drip behind left front wheel well

Started the car up after its battery having to be charged, and let it run in the driveway to warm up a bit. While idling, I noticed a very slight drip of what looked like clear liquid (no smell that I could tell) dropping just behind the left front wheel well. Sorry if it's an easy answer - I searched the forum but didn't find it. Any idea what that is, do I need to be concerned? Never noticed it before.

There are a couple items that come to mind. Was the drip ahead of the tire, in line or behind? And did it have any smell?

1) The battery vent discharges into the left front wheel well. My guess is that you had some moisture come from there.
2) The windshield washer reservoir is behind the left front wheel.
3) The gas tank filler has a water drain that empties into the wheel well. Was the car parked outside? Could it be dew moisture?

Thanks for the quick reply - maybe your #1 unless anyone has other thoughts.

Car was inside garage, drove it out to warm it up. Driveway is sloped, so front of car was higher than rear of car, maybe a 20% grade.
Leak was dripping from behind tire, in line with tire, from bottom of car. No smell, looked clear.

Thanks!

If this "moisture" was from the battery, I would recommend a careful inspection both inside the trunk and under the fender area for corrosion (remove the fender liner to see inside). This "vent" must be one of the worst Porsche designs ever. Not only does it tend to leak acid all over your A/C fan but it can also allow acid to seep all over the battery support area in the trunk. I got so tired of cleaning up the mess left by mine that I went to an Optima Red-top sealed battery.

If it was battery overflow, it would be in front of the wheel, brake fluid would be behind, and very slippery. Mine puked a bit when I overfilled the tank.

I vote brake overflow. How full is the brake reservoir?

agree with tbennett - brake reservoir overflow. battery overflow is in front of the wheel in the front bumper area near the AC cooler.

That would be my guess too.

Thanks all - I just checked and I'm probably less than a centimeter over the max fill line in the brake reservoir. Maybe the slope of the driveway exaggerated this.

still... you're sure it's not the neighbor's dog.

Yeah, it's the brake overflow.
Tasting a finger-wipe of the film will quickly tell if it's brake juice. Or... well -- you know.

brake fluid will also rise in the reservoir if it gets warm... That really sounds like it to me...
And Jerry guessed that too.. he gets credit.

So I think it was washer fluid. I went to fill up gas today and saw there was a little moisture seemingly leaking from the washer fluid reservoir. And after I had put the car in the garage, I put a piece of cardboard (got to keep a lot of these handy!) under the leak, and today I saw it was the blue tint of my washer fluid. There must be a tiny tiny leak/crack somewhere because there was still enough washer fluid in the reservoir for me to run the washer. Thanks all for the replies. I guess better washer fluid than brake fluid!
