Default Top Down!

Hey,
It was 70 degrees along the shore in New Jersey yesterday. Me, my wife, and Tucker, took a ride with the top down. It was the first time to we drove together in our 964. We went to the ocean inlet and watched the glistening sea for awhile. We met a bunch of people doing the same as us; saying goodbye to winter. Afterwards, on our ride home, we took a slow route and passed by the casinos. Along that road, I noticed a Jitney on my butt. The Jitney wiggled a way next to the passenger side of our 964. We looked up and noticed glaring blue eyes starring in our car. We thought he driver was interested in my old lady. Then, in a german accent, the driver said, "what is the year of your car"? I answered back, "it's a '91". "It's fine example of that model, my brother works at the factory in Zauffenhausen". He then said, "my house is 20 KM from the factory". The man loved our car! Besides a thumbs up from another porsche owner or a young kid trying race, who but a german could love our cars or understand it's legacy like we do.

Cool story Scotty. Gotta love people that understand heritage and legacy cars.

Good story, that is what it is all about.

It is fascinating the people the car attracts. I was out this weekend and an old man approached me. I thought he was going to as for money because that is the norm from old men standing infront of a liquor store in the ghetto. Nope, he started telling me about the new 1973 911 and the 930 he use to own. Then he got into a big Mercedes and drove off.

Nice story.

Germans I meet here often seem to display a sense of pride when they come and chat about my car. Just this last Friday my neighbour ('dolf) drove past while I was out washing and detailing . He parked his VW and then walked back to my driveway to stand awhile and chat about cars (German marques of course).
