Default WTF is up with Search!

OK, here is my morning rant. I've tried using Search the last couple of days and simply do not understand the new search algorithms that are being used since the change recently. The relevancy hit ratio is terrible. I just did an advanced search using the terms "roof" and "rack" in the 964 section and this is what turned up for the first page of results:

It almost seems like random results. Anyone else experience issues with Search? I'm trying to find the recommended roof rack system for my car and issues with the foot clamps and the sloping roof. This is too frustrating. Thanks for listening. Jim

Not excusing the new search which is terrible, but try putting what you are searching in quotes. I just tried that on "roof rack", and actually got some pretty relevent hits. I may have gotten lucky, but give it a shot.

As an aside, I am actually putting together a rack for hauling tires to de's. Will put pics up when it's done. Don't know if you are trying to do the same, but if so, shoot me a pm, and I will send you all the info I have come up with.

Yep, using quotes helped and seems to be the key. Never had to do it before, but I guess that is the way it has to be. I also narrowed the parameters to only include the thread title. Again, never had to do that before. Used to just enter in the terms without quotes, select the specific section I wanted and clicked Search. Results were usually very good. Thanks for the tip.
