The verdict:

I took her out for a spirited 45 minute drive and the problem is solved as far as I can tell. Idle is much smoother and I dont have to stay on the gas to keep her running. No check engine light either. She is going in for a scheduled maint. soon anyway so I will see how well I did then.

Yep, they have been replaced. Those plug wires sure can be a son of a to get off. Thanks again for the tip Indycam.

Thanks. Will do. She needs a bath first... She is embarassingly dirty. I guess thats what happens when you go on vacation for 2 months.

+1 on the pics - at least a photo of the hose that was disconnected. Great job.




This is post #944 for me - reminds me of my first p-car. A 1987 944 in Guards Red. Slammed 160K miles on that car with only one major failure. Yep, timing belt roller failed and I bent every valve in the motor. Thank God for Andial Road & Racing

As requested here is the pic of the offending hose circled in green. It's located behind the heater blower motor on the intake manifold. It's very close to the wall separating the passenger and the engine compartments. And some others pictures... I know she is dirty... That will be rectified tomorrow if I have time.

Congratulations. I have removed my intake before and I know how easy it can be to miss a vaceum line. Love the easy fixes.
