Its a rolling road re-map, he fits a new chip to the ecu then maps the car.
My car at one point hit 156mph stood still, very loud!
The car feels a lot quicker, but we allso fixed a vacum fault whilst there, in the higher rev range its got tonnes more go.
It was on a previous rollin road in warrington that gave a 252.6. So his road is about right IMO.
Cost £300.
His website was down when i tried to contact him, left a msg and he replied 2 days later.
He knows everything about fueling, he had a couple ov race cars there (m3,s 996 gt) and a 964 twin turbo-550bhp! He made the engine managment system, the loom, the ecu was from a koinengseing ect.

Their website is priceless!
(wish I could have done that for a website a few years back except for the fear of being sued)

Very nice, not too bad at all, with a chip, remap, and 993 air system conversion, you can jump up 60hp or so from what I have seen, all for about 1800-2000....other than that supercharger seems to be hte only other option.

has anyone ever heard of 911chips? I think its www.911chips.com, any good? They claim with headers/exhaust/and their software it will bump you 48bhp

That is the Steve Wong chip. You can do a "steve wong" search for a varied range of opinions and zero conclusions. 48bhp over stock is tempting.

Yes its my car, that pic was photoshopped, people seem to have issues with that lol....fr those who do, my billstein pss9's are on, springs on, brake ducts, clears, and new reflector...and YES the drop in the avatar is equivelant to the drop the car now has. Ride is stiff but in a good way, drives on rails.....no rubbing and 17" wheels here soon that ill be swapping back and forth with

Re-map, please!

For a stock 964, why not just call the "re-map" what it really is,
i.e. a "pushed" ignition timing mod requiring higher octane.
That's the key element of the "re-map", as changes to the AFR yield
basically nothing for a stock engine.

Bottom line: Great marketing approach (re-map) to "hook" the naive.

Do Porsche not map a car to have a balance between longevity, performance, economy and emissions?

Is this not a generic map to suit all cars on the same production line where build tolerances will make everyone that little bit different?

So a live remap, where you have a program that is written to suit your car, biased to performance is for the naive?

Well, sir, everyone would look mighty silly if they all tried to wear the same size trousers now wouldnt they.

"Do Porsche not map a car to have a balance between longevity, performance, economy and emissions?"

The typical marketing ploy used to promote a re-map (performance chip).
Very little in performance is compromised to achieve longevity, economy
and emissions, given todays technology (and 964's ), e.g. knock sensors,
powerful and very fast and robust engine management systems especially
from a performance company like Porsche that must compete with many
competitors, e.g. Japan, as was also the case for the 964.

"Is this not a generic map to suit all cars on the same production line where build tolerances will make everyone that little bit different?"

Another marketing hype used. Given the tight tolerance capabilities of auto
OEMs today (and then for the 964) and automotive electronics, very little
variations, if any, exist between a auto OEM's production line output.

"So a live remap, where you have a program that is written to suit your car, biased to performance is for the naive?"

First of all, NO program is written by the so-called tuner. Many, and most
likely all, have know idea on how to "write" a program. Most don't even
know what computer (microprocessor) is being used in the engine management
system. All the "tuner" does is change a few numbers in a table, i.e. the ignition
and/or fuel map.

"Well, sir, everyone would look mighty silly if they all tried to wear the same size trousers now wouldnt they."

Very poor analogy, as exemplified by the previous responses above.
