Default Paint Color Statistics?

Anyone know of statistics on what paint colors rolled out of the factory for 964. i.e., number of Guards Red cars, number of Oak Green, etc?

That would be interesting to know. I've never seen my color "Forest Green Metallic" on another car.

I think it's an impossible question I'm afraid. It seems that getting accurate figures for what MODELS were produced is difficult enough, never mind what colour they were!! If anyone has any reliable figures or a source of information I'd like to see it.

I agree nearly impossible to know.

You can be assured that the majority of the cars were painted standard colors like red, white, black etc.

the special order colors required a deposit from a paying customer at the time. So odds are if you have a color like my cobalt blue it was ordered by someone vs a dealership that could only order the standard colors for inventory.

PS this holds true for US consumption. Could vary for ROW.

I just saw a C2 the other day with cashmere interior and I know of 2 964 turbos in the color. It looks exceptionally nice on the widebody but no less beautiful on the C2.

Actually there must be a way to find out the info. It is not that Porsche didn't keep records, they are just reluctant to release them. PCNA Can't do anything to help. You would need to have a Porsche AG contact that has access and I would assume permission to acquire the build sheets. Normally these things happen as often as "Hell freezes over". Probably because the info is archived someplace and not readily accessible, or they prefer to keep it secret.

The 928 registry acquired all the data for all 928GTS models. Every car is broken down by VIN#, build #, Exterior/interior color and auto/manual tranny on the registry. Option info and other info is too much to decipher and list.

So point being if they have the info for every GTS they must have info for all models. I am sure the more obscure the model the more difficult to get access to.

BTW perfect timing. I am having the new set of 8 & 9 cup I's painted today and i wasn't sure if i should do silver or not. Your avatar convinced me to. Amazon rules

Well thanks for trying to dig it up. If it was a dream and you have it again, try and remember some numbers!

Cobalt, impressive that the 928 folks got their hands on the info. Speaking of registries, is there an official 964 Registry somewhere (besides the RSA one I think I've seen)?
