Default Factory Certificate

Got the factory certificate today and the vehicle type is "964360/911Cup"? Dose any one get the different name? My RS chassis number fall into basic model, but got a Matter "bolted in" full roll cage, two speedster sun shade and two diagnal tube inside the engine bay. Also a motorsport white label dated my chassis number which is found on my roll cage. From this certificate also proved two "Cup car" options: 1. LSD (40/100) & 17" cast cup wheel...Any idea why the type has a strange name?

Looks like an RS to me. Cup cars have no interior color code AFAIK.

Also I think the RS LSD is 20/100?

The chassis fall into RS basic range, but got "Cup" car options: 40/100 LSD & Cast wheel. RS standard LSD is 20/100.

How does one get the certificate?? Is there somewhere that you can find out more about getting this certificate?

I would also love to get a hold of one of these certificates. I discovered that 4 owners previous (and a pre delivery on the new car!) failed to notice that the compliance plate is stamped as a Carrera 4, I noted this to Porsche Australia and they sent me a letter with the original delivery details and option codes with an apology but one of these will insure future provenance.

Figures. Our car years get clumped together under the 'old geezer' premium cost:
(You wide-body C4 guys - go suck lemons, ya lucky bastards!)

(hmmmm....) That "supplied window sticker" discount looks interesting....

yeah- pricey piece of paper. Not really a replacement for original documentation, but kinda cool to have.

My question is, if you already have the original window sticker, what does this 'certificate' get you?

I am confused I have no info on any 40/100 LSD being supplied. There is the 40/40 and the 20/100 but none of the info I have shows a 40/100 ever being made or used.

According to Adrian's book Carrera RS, RS 3.8, Turbo, Turbo 3.6 were equipped with 20/100. I know my turbo has the 20/100 and the factory sales info i have for the RS 3.8 states 20/100 standard equipment.

Now he states that the RS series was given a choice between 40/40 and 20/100 but again no mention of 40/100. I would hope you have the 40/40 as IMO it is a better unit for the N/A cars. The 20/100 helps settle out the handling of the widebody and turbo but has its limitations. The 20/100 LSD requires you to lift in order to decrease the lock up from 100% down to 40% under decel only and can be more than a bit tricky.

I do not have original window sticker when I purchased the car. Guess what? I paid $100 USD bot got 2 "free" recall done in local OPC without any charge.

Hi Cobalt:
I found the 20/100 stated in the 964RS factory tech book. I need to double check if it is 40/40 or 40/100 thought...

Also beware the accuracy problems that have been documented with some Certificates of Authenticity. Some years ago, before the current privacy laws were in effect in Germany, here and elsewhere, you could get an exact copy of the Factory Kardex. Now they are not able to do that, so the records have been transcribed manually. The C of A is issued by PCNA, not the Factory, from those transcribed records. I have seen the current Certificates of Authenticity with incorrect colors, options missed, etc.

Hi Cobalt:
I found the 40/40 date from "15 Years of RS book": it is listed at Cup car detail spec list...
