Default cup pip price variations

i would like to buy a middle cup pipe and have found huge variations in prices

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=009

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=010

from £80 to £320
i know you get what you pay for ( usually) but its only a piece of tube !
i think i will have the cheaper one unless anybody can advise me what the catch is.
i noticed the cheaper one doesnt apear to have the brackets, but they are not worth £240 !
thanks
steve
or if anybody in England has a s/h one for sale.
thanks steve

I have been looking for a cup pipe also. Why not go middle of the road and get one from Design 911 (no affiliation etc) for £158 +VAT. Comes with the fitting straps as well.

I would make an offer to, or ask for best/final price, via Troy Chapman @ EBS: (http://www.ebsracing.com/).

Mine was significantly less than market price; $722 aggregated for (Dansk) primary b/p, secondary b/p and tip. All are well made stainless and fit precisely w/o issues or "finessing". Sorry I don't have the ala carte pricing. When I'd been in dialogue with:

DANSK USA / JENSEN INTERNATIONAL
Phone: 530-676-7246
Fax: 530-676-7333
Email: mjensen@directcon.net

Mike was quite complimentary of EBS as a Dansk point of retail sale; Troy has been very responsive and professional and EBS, as a sponsor here, would seem to deserve a shot.

No affiliation(s) with EBS.

I bought the cheapest one on ebay from Tuning Centre Aachen.

It did come with brackets although they don't show it. These were just strips with welded nuts attached, they require forming to the pipe and were easy enough to do.

On the negative side, I had to cut 10mm from the flanges at both ends to make the flare the correct shape to fit. I wrote to them but they couldn't understand the problem as they had sold more than 50 with no 'reported' problems.

Anyway it works and looks OK. I suspect it's probably chromed steel tube not Stainless and may go rusty eventually, but you pay your money and take your chance.

Bob.

thanks for reply ,but unfortunatley buying from the USA is not viable due to exchange rate. I should have got one last year from the USA when we got 2 dollars to the pound !

same as bobster.
the shop assures me its stainless steel.
i am going to fit the pipe myself ,i dont mind doing a bit of " fitting".
i will report the quality and fit on here, even if it turns out i made the wrong choice.

Steve,
Just a quick note to say make sure you get the strap around the right way when forming it. It has an M10 nut on end and another drilled to a clearance hole, to allow the securing screw to pass through it, on the other. Pulling the two together forms the clamp.
If you wrap the strap around the flat mounting plate at the rear/front? of the engine first and make the ends of the strap accessible from underneath the car directly behind the bumper, you need the clearance/drilled nut lowermost.
I knew what I had to do and in my exitement to make the second bracket exactly the same shape as the first, got it wrong!
If you want a picture of the finished assembly I'll try to add one.
Bob.

I think you have to reach a certain number of posts before you can upload attachments but I think if you host the photo somewhere else on the internet you can link to it. Someone can then always post it in the thread on your behalf.

Hi Steve,

Did you buy the version from tuning center aachen?
Did it fit well, or did you have to make adjustments?
Just wrote the email, apparently the pipe is stainless.

I am thinking to buy the package including the g-pipe while I am at it .

Cheers
Gilbert

I bought mine second hand off a fellow 964 owner and unlike every other new one I seen for sale it, doesn't use straps. The brackets bolt direct to the engine which makes it a breeze to fit. I've yet to see another like it and don't know where it originally came from?
