Seems that it's cheaper to buy Plug'nPlay engine management and go distributorless ignition
Also as a bonus, get more power and better fuel mileage.

I think he's referring to the engine rebuild cost when the belt breaks and the engine grenades.

To keep the belt from breaking ,
replace it for $11 ,
or spend big bucks on a "Plug'nPlay distributorless" ?

I'll spend the $11 .

It's your choice but engine management gives both more power and better fuel mileage also on otherwise bone stock engine.

"Big bucks" as you refer is around 2000usd total including tuning.

I spoke with an ex-porsche dealer and mentioned this to him. He recalls a whole slew of warranties because of this issue, but none after the cooler/breather hose being installed. As you point out- he may not have stuck around long enough to hear the end of the story.
