Default Yokahoma S-Drive

Anyone have any experience with Yokahoma S-Drive tires. I'm considering putting them 205/50R17 & 255/40/R17 on my C4. For use during the warm months. Mostly street driving, some D&E and autocross.

I would think that with a UTQG of 300 the S Drive may underwhelm as a track tire. But , that said, we can all benefit from more track time on just about any tire (within reason). Have you considered moving down the treadwear scale to 200 or less in a non R tire ? That may get you a bit more performance on track pending other limits obviously.

My own experience with street tires on track (Neova) is that the front is going to howl mightily and push badly and that the rear struggles a bit to hook up. I would think that it's going to be very easy for a well driven 964 to overcome the limits of street tires with such a wear rating on track.

But, that most certainly doesn't mean that it isn't fun and highly instructional. It all boils down to want you want and the truism that speed costs money, how fast do you want to go ?

I can´t tell about the S-Drive but I have in my 964 the Yokohama´s Advan Sport model in the same sizes you mention and they are wonderful, very good grip and in the circuit, activities, my car with these tyres and Bilsteins HD has a cornering limit way above mine

I put the s drives on my '91 c2 last summer, ran 2 DE events on them "my first DE's" . side walls seemed a little soft at first adding a little more air improved that. i would buy them again

Thanks for the feedback. I ran -16 BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE960AS POLE POSITION All Season 205/225
tires at Autocross & D.E. last year, so seems like these should be an improvement.

The S-Drive apparently replaces the ES100. I'm in the process of switching from ES100's to the S-Drive. (I try to do an axle at a time separated by a few months so as to space out the replacement costs)

I have been real happy with my ES100's. They are wearing great and have good grip rain or shine.

Same here -- didn't want to change but I can't find ES100's in the sizes I need any more.
